and traveled from Rhode Island to New York to pick up the vehicle. One hour after leaving the dealership, several warning lights appeared on the dash. Despite being assured by the salesman Mike that the car was in perfect working condition and had been thoroughly inspected, it clearly wasn't.
When I called Mike, he informed me that the service department was closed until Monday and advised me to take the car to my local Toyota dealership, promising that Romeo would cover any repair costs missed by their inspection. My local dealership discovered $9,000 worth of damage, including a broken suspension spring and other critical components. Initially, Romeo Toyota refused to cover the repair costs and insisted I drive the unsafe vehicle back for their inspection, which I understandably refused.
After days of fighting and my local dealership providing photo evidence of the damage, Romeo Toyota finally agreed to cover the repair costs. However, my troubles didn't end there.
I was supposed to receive my registration and license plates within 45 days of purchase, but 75 days have passed, and I still have neither. The temporary plate they provided expired on June 3rd, leaving me with a new 4Runner that I can't drive legally. Despite numerous attempts to contact Ryan, who processed my purchase, he has been unresponsive and has failed to address the missing registration and plates.
Also, After sending them a notarized title duplicate for my trade in, Walt their GSM called me super rudely and threatened to send me a $32,000 bill after not reaching out for 70 days about this being any sort of issue. I provided notary receipt and tracking number and they claimed “I didn't sign it” even tho the signature was notarized and I took pictures of it. I am now speaking to the owner Patty Romeo who continues to apologize for the unprofessionalism of her employees. It’s sad honestly.
I strongly advise against doing business with this unprofessional dealership, especially if you are from out of state. My experience with Romeo Toyota has been nothing short of a nightmare.
