My review of Lewis Toyota of Hays used car division which I posted on Consumer Affairs, sharing it here with you so you can be warned! Purchased a used Dealer certified 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4 X 4 pickup from Lewis Toyota of Hays, on Feb 8, 2016. Noticed some problems with the pickup the day of purchase after signing the contract. The dealer failed to address the problems, upon my mentioning it to them. First problem I noticed was the nearly dead battery brought the truck home tested the battery only 220 cold cranking amps remained of the 660. Had to purchase a new battery the 2nd day of ownership at my expense. Also noticed on the first day of ownership the coolant bottle was dry under the hood, luckily I had a new bottle of toyota coolant on hand in my garage. I topped off the bottle. Also noticed the cruise indicator was non functional. Asked the dealer by phone about this they said bring it in and they would put the repairs on the extended warranty I purchased but the service manager said their was no promise the insurance company would pay for it and I would have to pay it, if they didn't I also found out this was known by the dealer, by looking up the service history, the dealer noted that cluster needed replacing due to a non working cruise indicator but they did not replace it and went ahead and certified the vehicle with the non working indicator. This could be a safety issue, since you don't know it's engaged and it could accelerate without you knowing. Also the vehicle had clutch problems which the dealer knew about and noted in the service history. I recently spent over $1,000 dollars to have the fly wheel resurfaced, replace the clutch, throw out bearing and release fork, parts and labor. The mechanic that repaired it said the entire clutch and flywheel had been abused in some way by the previous owner. The flywheel had been so badly overheated it had to be ground twice. I can say this is the last vehicle I will ever purchase from Lewis Toyota, I have been a good customer since 2012, I won't even take my vehicle there for service any more, I will also say the extended warranty I purchased there for nearly, 3,000 dollars is worthless. They don't want to pay for anything, just give you the run around, and waste your time. Oh and also did some searching on the Internet and found there was a safety recall on the leaf springs, could break puncture the gas tank and catch fire! called Lewis Toyota about this said they could not help me there was no solution. Upon contacting Wagner Toyota in McCook Nebraska to purchase a new clutch release fork, the parts guy ran my Vin, and let me know there is a solution for the bad springs. Took it in and found out my springs are bad, Wagner Toyota has ordered the new ones and they will be replaced free of charge! Just be warned! About purchasing a used vehicle from Lewis Toyota of Hays Used car division!
