“$4,000 Surprise at Bell Road Toyota — Bait-and-Switch in

Full Effect” Came for a Tacoma TRD Sport advertised on Toyota’s SmartPath. Online price was clear — but in person, Bell Road Toyota added thousands in fake accessories, then tried to justify it with nonsense like “the online price is wrong” and “options won’t be included at delivery.” One even admitted it’s “just to make profit.” Honestly, I was shocked. They sent out a parade of clueless clowns, each with a different excuse. No shame. No professionalism. Classic bait-and-switch. I walked out — and you should too. Total waste of time. Take your business somewhere honest. What a joke.

Very disappointed.

Ordered a new vehicle. Was sent the window sticker so i knew exactly how much it was. Got to dealership and was told another 3 grand added on because they put paint protect, etc, on the vehicle after it arrived. “It’s just what we do.” No apology adding on the sticker shock. Will never go back.

I had an appointment for a 20,000 mile checkup at 8:40am.

I arrived on time. It took at least 10 minutes before my service advisor approached me. At 11:50 my car was ready. That is a long time to wait for an oil change and tire rotation. What’s the purpose of an appointment?

I called a week ago and left a message to schedule

service on my truck. Four days later (no response from the service department at this point) I decided to call corporate customer service. They apologized and escalated my inquiry with a promise of response within 24 hours. Yet, I never received a call or communication. Apparently owning multiple Toyotas over the years nets zero loyalty credit from this company. I strongly recommend not doing any type of business with this dealership.

I had the worst experience trying to get my car serviced

at Bell Road Toyota and would never trust them with a vehicle of mine again, my service advisor was Tim Zarbock. They had my vehicle all day didn’t do the work I took my car to have and no one could tell me anything about my cars status and I couldn’t get ahold of anyone at the service department, I had to show up in person to be helped. I showed up at 7:30am didn’t get helped till 8am and only got helped because I got out of my vehicle and went to Tim’s office. It was pretty busy so I didn’t think much about it. Once I was helped it seemed to go pretty well, I needed a simple diagnostic to tell me what was wrong with my car. I dropped off my vehicle and by noon or 1pm I had not heard anything so I called and it went to voicemail (again not a big deal I just wanted an update), about thirty minutes later I got an update - my car wasn’t done and he would call me soon with an update. That update never came. About 4:30pm I started calling trying to get a second update - no answer. About 5pm rolled around and I don’t care who I get on the phone I need my car or at least an update but I cannot get ahold of anyone. No managers were answering their phones and no one in service is answering their phones. I continue to call and have someone drive me to the dealership so I can get there before they close at 6pm, I don’t get a person on the phone that could help me till I am pulling into the dealership at 5:45pm. When I get there only a few service advisors are in their offices all the others went home including Tim and my car and not been seen by a mechanic. Bell Road Toyota had my car from open to close, I had a morning appointment and my car sat in their parking lot and did not have anything done to it and the dealership did not communicate anything with me. When I got their the only thing they could tell me was I could rent a car so I have a car to drive but could not tell me what was wrong with my car, why it didn’t get looked at and it didn’t seem like they cared at all. My plan was to buy a car from bell road Toyota depending what was wrong with my car however I will never bring them my service again and I recommend you choose another dealership as well.

Nestor Diaz promised me a price for a truck.

Of course when I get there the price goes up. I left. he texts me and gives me a great deal. I tell him I have to make it quick cuz I have my child's play I have to attend tonight. He promises me it won't be a problem. I get there and wait for about 20 minutes and he says that I won't be seeing the finance guy in the timeframe I needed. since he had already lied to me twice, I was pretty sure the numbers he gave me we're gonna be a lie too. so I left. he calls me as soon as I left and tells me I'm a piece of sh!! I'm a big baby, and he doesn't wanna sell me a car anyway. I called and spoke with an alleged manager about this. I don't expect anything to come of this. I was hoping this place would be different then all the other dealerships, but I was wrong. if you wanna get lied to and treated like crap, definitely go here.

Found a car we liked.

Salesman Corey told us it would be there the next day and to call him when we showed up. Called 3 times and he never answered his phone and had no voice mail box. The new salesman Anthony went to get the car. Brought it out and said it was sold. Wanted us to look at other cars. We walked away from this scam. BTW, car is still listed through Costco used cars as for sale.

We purchased our new 2024 Prius XLE online with the

assistance of Dean Uddin, the Internet Sales Manager. We have never purchased a vehicle this way but it was very easy and seamless. Dean got us the exact vehicle we wanted at a mutually agreed upon price. We went into the dealership, test drove the car, got some assistance registering for the Toyota phone app, signed the documents and drove off with our new Prius. Ooof!

$1,119 to service a Yaris? I thought I was getting a new one for that price. Still, dude kept a straight face when he charged me, must be standard price. Changing the fluids and servicing the AC should be, say, half that? Part of the 17,000 point service is a road test that failed to notice the slight squeak in the brakes. But at least they pick up that the floor mat wasn't straight and have re-attached it, so that's a huge weight off my shoulders. I would have taken the car back to get the brakes looked at, but the bank was closed so I couldn't arrange a second mortgage. Have to do that next time (no, there won't be a next time, in case you were wondering).

The service provider Aaron Cheesmond sold me a Converter

Protection insurance for $300 and it was a scam. DO NOT buy any insurance from "Dealer Loyalty Protection". I was under the impression this was an insurance directly through Toyota since it has the word dealer in the title. But no, this is a separate company that is a scam. Doesn't answer phone calls, emails, claim submissions. Look up reviews for them online. Everyone will tell you the same thing. It's a disgrace that Bell Road Toyota sells people this and, in a time, when customers are vulnerable and emotional after having their catalytic converter stolen. The insurance pamphlet says you can't get a new converter without your claim being accepted... Well, I need my truck and they haven't answered any of my attempts to reach them. Complete scam. When this all started, I called Aaron Cheesmond to ask how to get a new converter and of course no answer. I left a voicemail and of course I never heard back. SAVE YOURSELF the $300 and stress.

SalesDecember 2023

Three days before Christmas I contacted Bell Road

Toyota about a slightly used 2022 4Runner TDR Pro. For two days, Mark Hawthorn kept emailing me to come in and look at the vehicle in person. He even scheduled an appointment with me, without my knowledge or consent, on the very first day I was contacted by him, assuming I would just be there when it was convenient for him I guess. I responded I was tied up with Christmas preparations and work and I would do my best to get there the following day, as it was not an easy time for me to get away for the 70-mile round trip to drive Bell Road Toyota. On Friday, the 23rd at 11:21 AM I received yet another email from Mark asking when I might arrive that day. At 11:37AM I told him I would break away from errands and be there in a couple hours, and I later arrived at the dealership at approx. 1:05PM. Upon meeting Mark, he abruptly handed me off to another salesman claiming to be working with a client, but there was no one else in sight in the used car building. The salesman claimed he would find out where the vehicle was located and fetch the keys, but he walked off in the opposite direction of the used car office? A few minutes later he returned and said the vehicle was sold the day before and asked if I would be interested in seeing other 4Runners. I proceeded to try to track Mark down, searching the sales office room by room, as the new salesman followed closely on my heels and continued to try to talk me into looking at “other” vehicles. I was then finally told by the salesman, after wandering the halls, that Mark had left…which could not be confirmed. I immediately called Mark’s cell phone to ask him if the information I was receiving was correct or if he had possibly set the vehicle aside for me as he knew I was in route. Why else would he have emailed me that very morning if the car was already sold? Unless of course he was banking on just getting me into the dealership for another possible sale, given the handoff to the other salesman and the full court press to look at other units I think that proves my suspicions. Mark NEVER returned my call, but I did receive a follow up email from him thanking me for visiting and a link to the already sold vehicle, asking me if I was still interested in buying the sold vehicle in question. SMH. Cleary Bell Road Toyota is either incompetent or doesn’t care about its customers time and priorities, especially around the holiday season. If Mark is representative of the ethics in place at Bell Road Toyota what does that say about Bell Road Toyota’s leadership values and competency? Since this incident I have read several similar negative reviews of the sales staff at Bell Road Toyota. I’d email the GM, but experience tells me that this usually a systemic cultural problem and upper management only cares about the numbers. Bad behavior such as this is what gives car dealerships and salesmen a bad name. If you’re looking to buy a Toyota in the Valley, I would recommend steering well clear of Bell Road Toyota.

DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM THIS DEALER - They sold me a

used MAZDA CX-5 and the bill of sale stated they had replaced the tires, did a full service and inspection on the vehicle. Nothing was done. I don't think they even looked at the vehicle before the sale expect to spray amor all over the interior. They tried to pass it all off on me as an unsuspecting buyer. Total fraud in my opinion. I went into this dealership hoping to change my opinion

of Bell Road Toyota. Unfortunately, the pure incompetence of the workers here leaves me sadly disappointed. My salesperson was Brian ok at best. He had no knowledge of the car I was looking at, granted it wasn’t a Toyota. After we came to terms on the deal, he was "out sick" for the following 3 days. During this time, I couldn’t get a hold of anyone at the dealership. Next, T.K. the sales manager, he’s flat out rude. I don’t know if he likes his job, but he definitely shouldn’t be in the customer service industry. He wanted nothing to do with negotiation when it came to the $3k for recon services and $1050 for gap insurance. Got very defensive when I asked for reasonable price on these. Next is Carlos, he is the "closer". He was ok, probably the best part of my experience was Carlos, but he is still impossible to get a hold of once it didn’t matter to his paycheck. Mohammad is next, he is the finance manager. They approved me at 6% originally and had my payment at $1080. This sounded good and I decided to accept and sign the contract. I was offered several aftermarket warranties well over the market price. Once I declined all these warranties, you could tell Mohammad was upset. I left the dealership and was waiting for them to allow me to drop off my trade in. During this time, they told me the interest rate changed and my new payment would be $1300. Obviously, they weren’t making money on the warranties anymore and tried to cook it into my interest rate instead. The is pure criminal. Absolutely horrible customer service. There are several other Toyota dealerships in the valley that will help you MUCH better. LASTLY, Daniel, the phone guy. Every time I called to try to find out what was happening to my deal, Daniel, the phone guy, would answer. He clearly hates his job or his life, not sure why. But flat out rude. Not even maybe I’m being a Karen rude, no RUDE RUDE. He would just hang up the call randomly when I was asking questions. He should be unemployed!!!

ATTN: Please feel free to write a review and complaint if

YOU feel Bell Road Toyota or any other dealership misled YOU in any way. On 10/16/2022, I came across a 2018 Tundra SR5 advertised for $36,990.00. Now, Price does not include dealer installed accessories, tax, title, license, or $529 dealer doc fee. Instead of disclosing the actual amount for the additional fees. Bell Road Toyota charged an extra $3,245.18 onto the sale price. The dealership failed to display this information on the sticker price, which was not on the truck at the time of the sale. In addition, I was led to believe there was no charge for a AVAS device already installed, which was $895, totaling an extra $4,140.18 onto the total price, bring the sticker price to $40,235.19. I felt they misled me by not disclosing the full amount until we were signing the purchase order. I admit fault for not catching this at the time of signing, maybe, it was do to the fact the Finance Department had me wait 25 extra mins in their office while being called off to do something else. I hope this was not a new sales tactic. I respectfully asking Bell Road Toyota to reevaluate how they display pricing online and not mislead customer's into believing there are paying under the vehicle's value. 2nd, to issued money back for the $4,140.18, which I felt they double charged. In addition, Bell Road Toyota’s Finance department dodges voice mails, which I have left 3 since 10/17/2022.

SalesJuly 2023

I looked up the car I wanted to buy online and went into

Bell Rd. Toyota expecting to find the ones that were online on the 23rd (Sat.) of July. NONE. Only ones that were more expensive. When I walked into the dealership, LOUD rap "music" playing like it was a party or something. I guess they thought everyone like that type of crap. Was not professional at all. It's not a party, it's a business. Most people buying cars were white and I'm sure they didn't appreciate that crap being shoved down our throats. Couldn't hear the sales person and manager very well over the noise. Manager, Kenny, was rude and doesn't treat people with respect. I ended up cussing him out a few times. Very unhappy about the situation there. Finance people were great. I ended up buying a new car. I am very happy with it but I will never return to Bell Toyota again and I am putting out the word how bad my experience was and telling people not to go there. They really need to get rid of some people.

Tim was my salesman and was fantastic overall.

He helped me with everything as my biggest concern was safety. Tim sold me the best deal he had with the safest car he had in my price range. He was genuine and cares for his customers unlike a lot of car salesmen. My experience went amazing. If you ever go to Bell Road Toyota in Phoenix ask for Tim!

SalesMay 2023

This dealership is not recommendable.

Salesman do not honor deals and General Manager appears to not be interested in reacting to consumer reviews to implement a corrective action for a positive change. Sales person Tim made me hope and wait for a vehicle that I thought I could purchase. Gave a down payment through Driveway to hold the vehicle that is still in transit. I was told that the vehicle will arive in a few weeks. A week later, vehicle arrived and was sold to someone else without giving me a courtesy call at the very least. What a waste fo time and effort. Sales person did not honor our deal! Secondly, I wanted to leave a review directly at their website for potential customers to view. An option to leave a positive or negative review prompt appeared and upon choosing to leave a negative review, site directed me to leave my contact information and a note that a response to my concerns will be answered by their General Manager. Almost a week have passed and no response. Negative consumer reviews appears to be ignored and are not transparent to consumers!
