I needed a vehicle.

Found the one I wanted. Despite the dealership trying to claim they’re different from the rest. The bottom line is they wanted a paycheck. They even joked in front of me about, “Needing to go buy a new vacuums” for all the cash that they were making off of me. Bottom line is that if their mouths are moving, they’re lying. They don’t act like they care about anything but making the maximum amount of money as quick and fast as possible. Yes I understand I could have walked away and I probably should have. But I can’t blame Subaru for the dealerships behaviors. First thing I did was remove any identification from my vehicle as to where I purchased it. Thank you Subaru for the amazing car. It’s not your fault.

While I was waiting for my vehicle to be serviced and the

waiting room was full, so I sat at a table on the EMPTY sales floor. A man came up and told me to move, and I said there's no seats in the waiting room and if someone needs to sign paperwork, I'm happy to move. He continued to harass me about moving, even after I repeatedly asked him to leave me alone. He later identified himself as the owner. He used threatening language like, "You need to learn a lesson about respect" and "I'm going to teach you a lesson." He also said that if you use their service department, you're not considered a customer. So something to consider. Others on the staff apologized for his behavior, but its absolutely ridiculous.

I just purchased a 2022 Outback Touring SUV.

I had checked the care out online and saw that Bath Subaru would be getting one in. I made an appointment to see the car and Ben L. was the salesman who helped me. We stopped mid paperwork when I requested to inspect the vehicle first to know if it was appropriate for me. Ben agreed immediately and we looked over the interior. He explained some of the features and let me test it in their driveway. Once I knew it was the car I wanted we finished filling out the paperwork. I took it for a proper text drive. Ben could not have been more professional or kind. Once the sale was complete, Ben took a LOT of time explaining features. I had a friend with me all through this and she even said, no one had ever been so thorough in all her experience in buying cars. I have never had such a positive experience in buying a car. Thank you Ben and Doug.

As a first time buyer, I felt very secure. My vehicle was just what I was looking for, in the price range I could afford. Thank you Brooke and Blake!

ServiceSeptember 2022

Despite the many bad reviews I had read about Bath

Subaru, we decided to try them for a basic service since they are much closer to our home that the other Subaru dealerships in Maine. I made an appointment and, unfortunately, ran a bit late. I walked in 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and was curtly told that “they had moved on.” I thought the service manager must be joking but he assured me he was not, telling me that “they ran a very tight ship.” I commented that I now understood why they had the reputation they had and he snarled that they weren’t the ones who showed up late. I walked out, got in my car, and turned it on. I turned and saw that the service manager had followed me out and was yelling at me through my window that I was a hypocrite for calling them on their awful reputation when I showed up 15 minutes late for an appointment. I didn’t bother engaging, just backed up and left. The good news is that I confirmed what a dreadful dealership this is without giving them a dime of my money. I’ll be returning to Patriot Subaru despite the long drive – they have always treated me with respect and provided great service.

If I could do negative 100 stars I would. Let’s put it

out there I’m beyond angry and so is my husband. Did we get loud yes we did, did we swear when we left yes we did. This is the rude disgusting display of customer service I have ever encountered. The policy of service department is the customer is always wrong and must be trying for a freebie.I spent about 1800 there since November. The owner is unable to understand analogies rather get a bad review and lose business over cheap repair that might cost 20 in materials, sounds legit. I had other repairs I would have done there but I will never set foot on that property again and I encourage others to stay away, read all the reviews about the owner and service manager, you will see this isn’t a one time incident. It’s frequent. Here it goes can’t wait for her response November2020 got repairs of 1500 for inspection including tires(note they have no warranty on tires or service) after leaving lot my tpms light came on, stopped in a few days later they said too time consuming. March2021 oil change asked again about tpms and told them tires getting low, they can’t do anything takes too much time July 2021 oil change asked about tires again as now they are getting bad, told brakes had 15% left and two tire at 22 and two at 45, seems like an issue to me. Left with tpms light still on. No explanation about tires, no resolve Called aug2021 made appointment for tires and asked my husband to join me to witness the nasty attitude of the service manager Frank I think ? Sept 2021, showed up attempted to recap my frustration , he refused to listen kept talking over me . Telling me that it was the bead seal they checked last time how ever I corrected him and said he never checked then he diagnosed over the phone. My husband got sick of him treating me terrible and spoke up, nope they kicked him out? Refused to listen as the service Manager walked out back and the owner appeared mysteriously. She must of thought I expected new tires? She was even nastier than the service manager! We kept trying to ask them when they mount the tires why they didn’t notice that they needed to bead seal, They had the inability to answer the question and kept dancing around it like the question didn’t exist. It was an important question because you need to be sealed if your wheels are corroded. I think they would’ve noticed my wheels were corroded when they mounted the tires. She said you can’t come in complaining about tires you’ve got in November. Told her this was our fourth time coming in about the tires and obviously were upset and I wanted them to solve the problem. So me and my husband walked out the door and I said wow these people have an attitude to my husband and I went over to get in his car she followed me outside with my keys very aggressively as the service manager pressed his face against the glass to see what was going on. She told me that they did not want to work on my car. I thought she was the owner I thought it was her job to have her employees do work but apparently at this establishment the employees choose Whether they like the customer or not as a determining factor if they decide to work on the car. I wonder if these people at this establishment just hate disabled veterans. I’m not sure what their issue is with veterans. As she’s dangling my keys telling me the guys don’t really wanna work on my car I asked her if she went to Dunkin’ Donuts for days in a row and her order was wrong would she upset. Her response and inability to understand an analogy was I don’t drink coffee. You can’t get through to this woman no matter what you say to her. I showed her my tires and said they keep going low I have to carry with me a pump to pump them up. She said well you got the tires in November and I told her that she didn’t know how many miles I drove on the tires. Told her for all she knew I drive 100 miles on the tires, She told me I look like a person that drove more than 100 miles? She pretended like I was screaming at her and kept covering her ears? Stay away far away

Green backs matter!!! We emailed several dealerships

making the model, color and options very clear. I also included the statement, "you get on bite at the apple so make it count." Since Bath Subaru is close to home we went to look at the vehicles and while the salesman was nice, the only argument for paying $2,000 more than other dealers was the "Black lives matter." We then were handed off to the owner who argued that he didn't know if the other quotes were believable or even real I handed him the email to which he commented that I could have changed it so I handed my phone with the quote and his response was, "we are not in the business of losing money."

Horrible dealership. Sold us a brand new vehicle that was

a Lemon that started malfunctioning within 5 days and wouldn’t take it back. The owner Bruce eventually resorted to name calling and I ended up having to resolve the issue with corporate. I have no doubt they knew the car had problems before selling it to us. Add to that, the service department is incompetent. Do yourself a favor and buy your subaru from one of the dozens of other dealerships in Maine. Don’t be fooled by the lower prices like we were / it’s for a reason, they are selling you junk cause they are crooks. Especially Bruce the owner (seems like a nice touch that he’s there but in reality he just doesn’t have anything better to do and is too cheap to hire a professional to manage his shop).

I question my loyalty to Subaru after today's encounter.

I question my loyalty to Subaru after today's encounter. I brought my car in for a 60k service, Maine inspection, to check the battery (as it had needed to be jumped recently), and to check for a cause to a rubbing noise that increased when my speed increased. I got a phone call to authorize battery replacement and a call when the service was complete. On inspecting the car in the parking lot, my husband checked the rear passenger light which he had noticed being out when following me down to the appointment. I forgot to mention it to service, but assured my husband they would see it during the 60k service and state safety check. They did not. In addition, the engine hood latch, which I have difficulty having catch on occasion, also did not close properly when I checked for the new belt, etc, I had just paid for. The latch had been cleaned but did not work properly. For $943.93, I have no confidence in the service I received, and I was chastised and disrespected by the manager and owner of the dealership. This is my fifth Subaru. I have never had such a horrible customer service experience anywhere in my lifetime. This is extremely disturbing when, in fact, a little common courtesy and humble admission of an oversight would have sent me off forgiving a missed bad bulb and a poor judgement call on not calling about the latch. Instead, I now question if my next vehicle will be a Subaru.

First of all, there was one very nice person in the

service department, a woman and she has been cheerful and helpful every time I talk to her but that is where the positivity ends. Every time I call for help here the people I've spoken to have been rude and abrupt making me almost feel sorry for bothering them. This isn't right. If you call the medical clinic across the river I work, Midcoast Internal Medicine, you will be greeted with kindness and understanding and we will take time for you not treat you like a nuisance just because you are calling with a simple question. Because, guess what, That's my job! My job is to give the best care I can to my patients. Your job is to do that for your customers. I will never get another vehicle from this horrible place again. The worst customer service I've experienced anywhere for anything.

Misrepresented used car, incorrect vehicle accident history

They sold me a used car for $11,000, which had been in a undisclosed front end accident with damages of $7,000. Their Autocheck system did not show the accident. Carfax showed the accident right away. Bath Subaru first said the accident didn't happen, then said the accident hadn't been so bad ($7000 damages?), then blamed it on the previous owner. They took no accountability for knowing about their cars before they sell them. Bruce (the owner) and Blake Mcelman w(Bruce's to son) were very hard to work with. They tried to give me as little as possible, when this was very clearly their mistake. It took weeks of negotiation to reach an agreement (right down to the 30th day after purchase). They tried to not pay me back for my trade in, instead give it back to me. I had to remind them they own it, because they bought the trade in when I bought their car. Eventually, I returned the car and received my money back. That part they followed to the letter of the law, I got my refund and not one penny more for the complications and extra work this created for me (car shopping for 2 months, one to buy the Bath Subaru used car, one to find it's comparable replacement). They literally would do nothing to make me feel better about my dealings with them. This was a horrible experience, and I am so glad it's over. I would never recommend anyone buy a car or have it serviced at Bath Subaru. They cannot be trusted, if they don't know the history of their vehicles before they put them up for sale.

Service Department Damages

I brought my Subaru in for a mechanical issue. When I picked up my vehicle I immediately noticed damage on the center console armrest that was not there when I had dropped it off. I spoke to the service manager and she took my car to inspect the damage. After 10 minutes she came back and informed me they don't know what it is and they didn't do it. I called and was transferred to one of the owners, Bruce, who immediately said it's not them. This guy was dismissive, rude, and would talk over me telling me he'll do nothing about it. I've never met an owner who doesn't care about business or thier reputation. I told him someone isn't telling the truth but I am. That was enough and he let me know he's the top, there is no one else to talk to and not come back. This isn't a dealership service department and is ran like nothing more then dishonest, shady, and disreputable side of the road shop. I would highly recommend taking your vehicle to another dealership for service.

Poor Customer Service

I received very bad service at Bath Subaru. After traveling two hours for an appointment, I was told they could not see me that day. When I arrived they said they had "moved on." No understand of my needs; no attempt to accommodate me. I was told that I was late like I was a disobedient child. When I said that this was bad service and that I wouldn't be back the owner castigated me for my behavior. They acted like they didn't need or want my business. Do yourself a favor, drive to Bangor, Auburn or Portland, where they want to service cars. I own three Subarus, and I wouldn't use them if I was broken down in front of there dealership.

So Many Rules, I wondered who was working for whom

These people are so anal about cell phone usage, picking up the car after the service is completed and what specific time I will arrive and if I can't come in person, needing to know exactly who will come instead and of course they must have a photo id, and telling me how busy they are. I can see they clearly don't need or want my business.

High-pressure car dealership

When I first met the salesman I inquired about the $500 rebate offer on the dealership's website due to their construction. He said it ended the day before, even though the rebate is still posted on their website. They did agree to honor the rebate. I was not going to buy a car that day and did tell the salesman that he could contact me the following day to discuss a possible deal. I had to work that morning and when I checked my messages, he had called and texted 15 times between 8:11 a.m. and 2 p.m. That's harassment. While I was at the dealership, the salesman sent me over to the sale manager under the premise I would be discussing adding leather to a vehicle, but instead was subjected to aggressive sales pressure to buy the vehicle that day. I will not recommend this dealership.

Bad Customer Service

Had the worst experience with these people. I called to ask about a car they had posted for sale and the salesman tells me (FOR WORD) "I don't think it is worth your time to buy one of these cars" after asking if the car was inspectable (which I'm assuming by that answer it isn't). He even told me they don't even bother checking the cars over, so he was unable to tell me if there was anything wrong with the car. I can't even believe that I just spoke with someone from a reputable dealership. I wish I had asked for his name, he was extremely rude and had some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. Regardless of the car not being stickered, it seems unreasonable that your salesman was unable to answer questions about the car's condition. I realize that selling the car without making repairs is the best way to keep the cost down, but how can I buy a car that has no inspection sticker without even knowing what could possibly be wrong with it? I don't know if the car runs, I don't know if the car needs something as simple as new brakes or an entirely new engine and the fact that yours salesman can't answer that question baffles me. Based on other reviews it's clear that you also make repairs, so It doesn't seem unreasonable that a customer would at least like you to check the car over and give it a proper diagnosis rather than a " I wouldn't know what's wrong with it". I would of been fine had he said "Well, let me find out!". Had he of talked to me for longer than two seconds without answering every question with a "I'm not sure" than maybe I would of driven up there to check the car out. I probably even would of come to check the car out, even after his poor customer service, had he not said "It isn't worth your time". SO ANNOYED.

excellent!!!!

I am 68 years old and have bought or leased Volvos. Toyotas, Nissans, and Ford vehicles. My experiences have been varied by dealerships and most definitely by the sales force. Some have been knowledgeable, and almost all have been earnest in their efforts to sell us their car. This summer I leased my second car (Subaru Forrester) at Bath Subaru with John Hart as my sales rep. The showroom and his presentation was professional and knowledgeable in his product. He worked as hard for a car for me through his effort to match my family needs with the right Subaru product. Sometimes car salesmen get a bad rap, but in our experience John was head and shoulders above the competition...without question the best we have dealt with.....the next car we buy or lease will be through Bath Subaru because of the way we were treated by the dealership and John

Used car Purchase

I haven't been a used car buyer for many years and this experience was made pleasant due to my salesman, Matt Hall. He knows his product and went above and beyond to make this sale happen in a polite , non-pushy manner. My search for a used car focused on an older Subaru but I was treated the same as if I were buying a new vehicle. The car I finally purchased had well over 100K miles and a few dings and scratches on it, but, overall looked in good condition. There was no rust, the interior was pristine and it drove like it was new. I was still skeptical until Matt furnished me with a recent maintenance history detailing extensive maintenance that offset the mileage on the car and showed it to be a local one owner car. He also steered me to a device sold on Amazon that offset the car not having bluetooth capabilities and allows for hands-free cell phone use, cost, $19.95! In addition, a few questions I had after the sale have been answered quickly and courteously. Thanks Matt and Bath Subaru.

When I unexpectedly needed to buy a new car with all wheel drive, I stopped at Bath Subaru and looked around. Salesman John Harper came out and introduced himself. His calm, measured way of talking with me and providing all the car details made me feel like I was in good hands. He exerted no pressure and was cordial and steady throughout our questions, the test-drive through a lovely historic area of Woolwich, our conversations about purchase details, and the final paperwork to complete the deal. I don't think I've ever met a more pleasant, level salesperson in my whole life. And the Subaru Impreza is an excellent car so far!

Highly recommend!

I have had nothing but great experiences when working with Bath Subaru! I bought a used car from them in 2014 and continue to take my current vehicle to their service department for regular maintenance. They have a very knowledgeable sales team who will go to extreme lengths to get you exactly what you're looking for! Heading back there in the Spring for an upgrade :)

Family Affair

Our extended family has been seeking out John at this dealership to buy our cars for over 20 years. Dealing with John has been a blessing for us. He is kind, smart, caring and ethical. No question is overloooked from me. The Dealership also operates with the same ethics. I have just bought a Forrester and it is the perfect car for me. Best of all, I was taught how to use the systems in the car before I left the lot. I am deeply grateful to this Dealership for there meticulous and rewarding performance. They deserve nationwide recognition.

Bought a 2017 outback- pleased

This transaction was with Andy Winglass. He was very attentive and listened to our needs. We never felt rushed (in fact, spent about 5 or so hours) driving different vehicles and options. It felt like a home town transaction, and Andy was extremely professional and courteous. In reviewing other online reviews of customer service, it is apparent that you need more professionals like Andy! Overall- good experience!

Terrible, Uncaring Service Team

Went in for an oil change, tire rotation and warranty work for my 2015 Forester. I also went in to look at a WRX, as I am in the market for one and am pre-approved for financing. First off, the dealer would not let me test drive the car until I negotiated a price. I didn't agree to this because frankly, I needed to test drive the car before I could decide if one was right for me. The salesman (John Harper) was very polite and offered a sheepish apology and said that it wasn't his call. I understood, shook hands, and went back to wait for my car. The dealer added a $69 tire balance to my bill and I didn't realize it until I'd left the dealership. I went back to ask if they'd take it off the bill and offered to help me "next time". I left a poor review on Bath Subaru's Facebook page, knowing that there likely would not be a "next time" because I'd felt taken advantage of. The keeper of the Facebook page replied and attempted to undermine my credibility in a public and unprofessional way. I responded respectfully to the Facebook post and offered proof that I didn't want the service they'd incorrectly scheduled. Instead of addressing it, they deleted their reviews page, making it inaccessible to new customers. After this, I called the dealership and attempted to speak to a manager to solve the problem. I spoke to Blake, and this is where things got really bad. Blake was unprofessional, uncaring, and he blamed me for the issues "why did you sign for it? I read everything I sign, why didn't you?" and when I asked for recourse he said "we can give you a heck of a deal on a new car!" At that point, I said "be well", and hung up. The dealership (Blake again) called me back two hours later and offered the same line of reasoning as he'd did during the previous call, but instead accused me of being mad because they wouldn't let me drive the WRX (which, of course, is not true). After that, he said "You're not a customer and you've never been here before. Why should I help you?" when I asked for some kind of recourse. He then ended his cavalcade of professionalism by saying "This isn't going anywhere, so I'm hanging up now, bye." In short, I have saved screenshots of everything and will be forwarding it to Subaru of America. I will not visit this dealership again. Bath Subaru had the opportunity to make a lifelong customer AND sell a $32,000 car in an hours' time. Instead, they treated a customer poorly... and as we all know, bad news travels faster than good news.

Shoddy workmanship. Uncaring Management

Did not perform service as requested. Compromised our car and our son's safety. Double talked and changed story when confronted until service and management coordinated their story and then prevented a unified front denying any responsibility. Superficially friendly and fundamentally dishonest.

Absolutely terrible service

I purchased a used vehicle from them. I filled up the gas tank for the first time a couple days later and it was leaking fuel. I brought it back to them. They replaced a clasp and said it was fixed. I filled up again a couple days later. Fuel was leaking again. It took about five days before I could get someone there to help me. I asked for a loaner vehicle while they fixed my car so that I wouldn't have to miss work. They said I could have a loaner, but I had to be there by no later than 4:30. This defeated my reasoning for wanting a loaner, I had to miss a couple hours of work just to pick up the loaner. Then when they looked at my car they found the issue, but it was going to take 3 days for the part to come in. They said I needed to come pick up my car and then return when the part came in. ( I have an hour drive one way to get there) When I asked if I could just leave it there and use the loaner the person I was talking to said he would have to ask his boss. They called back and said it would cost $20 per day, It would cost over $100 if the part came in on time. The tone of this conversation gave me the impression they only quoted that price because they knew I wouldn't pay it, resulting in me returning the loaner the following morning and arriving late to work. They told me the part would arrive on the coming Monday. I waited for them to call me, which didn't happen until 4 days after the part was expected to arrive. I scheduled a time for them to fix my car the following Tuesday (which is now a month after purchasing the car). I brought my car in and asked if they would be filling my gas tank to prove to me that the leak was fixed once they replaced the part. He said he would have to run it by his boss. I waited there for about 2 hours while they fixed my car. Once they finished they gave me my keys, but refused to fill my tank even though I had lost at least half a tank of fuel and wasted another half a tank or more driving back and forth to this terrible dealership. The service was absolutely terrible. Though they said they were trying make things as convenient as possible for me, everything they did made things more inconvenient for me. I will never go back to this place for any kind of service or new vehicle and I can say with 100% certainty that no one I know will ever purchase a vehicle from this dealership. If I could them 0 Stars for a rating I would.

Satisfying car buying experience.

I have used Bath Subaru twice to purchase pre- owned vehicles. I had the same salesman each time and felt like I was in very capable and trusting hands with Bob Crane. He is very professional, experienced and courteous. All of the other employees that I dealt with either on the phone or in person were friendly and made me feel like a valued customer.

Straight Talk

What stands out for me was the straight talk I received from all the folks at Bath Subaru, from Sales to Service. The trading/buying experience felt explicit and open all the time, a little bit of negotiating, a little bit of "selling,"[which is to be expected after all], but no hard sell and no signs of over-bearing training seminars on how to close the deal. The Service department too answers all questions, fully explains what's going on. Of course, you always leave happy, outwitting it had cost less! But hey, you get what you pay for!

They made dealing locally impossible

I was interested the 2015 Outback and intend to trade my 2011 Hyundai. lAfter reluctantly agreeing to let me test drive the car they insisted on the sale that day. This was after clearly explaining that I wanted to collect information before I made a final decision. The next subject of the conversation was all the apparent problems with my car and how small the trade would be. Verbally they said that it would only bring $11K-----which is $6K less that KBB and Edmonds. At that point I left the dealership. I was treated very well at another Suabaru dealer in another town and ordered the Outback. I will never visit Bath again.

Bath Subaru has the worst car dealership service department

Taking my car to Bath Subaru was my all time worst experience with a car dealership anywhere. They fixed one problem with my car and said that they could not fix the other problems with my car. This might sound reasonable, but it isn't. I drove my car to another town that same day, immediately after leaving Bath Subaru and the other car repair shop was able to fix the problems with my car in a short period of time and for a reasonable price. Honestly, the impression I got is that the people who work for Bath Subaru were only interested in charging the highest amount of money for very simple repairs while claiming to be incapable of other quite common and normal repairs. At first, I thought the service advisor, Angela Filmer, was simply a very brusque person. After a few completely unsatisfactory interactions with her, I became convinced that she is simply one of the rudest, most ineffectual car dealership service personnel I have ever met. Take my advice, drive your Subaru to any other automobile service provider in Maine. Taking your car to Bath Subaru is simply a very expensive waste of time and money. In my opinIon, Bath Subaru should terminate the employment of Angela Filmer as their service advisor immediately. If they do not fire her, then Subaru ought to decertify the Bath Subaru dealership's franchise. Plenty of other people would be capable of running a Subaru dealership with a competent service department.

My mother-in-law asked me to check the oil in her Subaru

Outback (she is 96) as it had been changed about four months earlier. I found that it had been overfilled by about a quart and a half. I've read that overfilling the oil can damage the engine. I asked my wife where the oil had been changed. She said at Bath Subaru. I told her she should get it changed again as soon as possible and filled to the correct level somewhere else. My wife eventually got it changed at a local garage. When she went to Bath Subaru a few months later they told her the head gaskets needed to be replaced. They replaced it for about $1250 including a timing belt. I know Subarus have a reputation of needing head gaskets at about 120k but this car only had 80k. I'm not a car mechanic (was a typewriter repairman), but I think overfilling the oil is the most likely cause of the prematurely blown head gasket. As far as we can tell (time will tell) they did an okay job of replacing the head gaskets. The price seemed reasonable. My daughter had her's replaced at around the same time and paid a few hundred more. It is a big job to replace head gaskets on a Subaru since there are two of them and they are on the side of the engine and not easily accessible like most other four cylinder cars that have just one on the top. I suspect the side facing cylinders has a lot to do with why Subarus go through head gaskets. I personally would never buy one for this reason, but a lot of people in New England seem to like them. They do get decent milage for an AWD car and were one of the first to offer AWD. These days I think you can do much better.

Was interested in a new crosstrek but wasn't allowed to

take one for a test drive without being committed to buy right then and there. In the early stages of shopping I'm not going to be committed right away, isn't that the purpose of a test drive? It was not a good experience and I will be taking my business elsewhere.
